Response to Elder Eyring talk
Elder Eyring's talk is a great talk for us incoming freshman to read. It is all about learning and how to learn. He tells us some very important ideas to consider. We need to be fearful of pride and to recognize and avoid it at all costs. Pride is a destroyer of learning and keeps us close-minded and stubborn. He lets us know that while here at BYU learning, we should care more about what we are learning and what we can learn from our mistakes more than the grade at the top of the page. Even more importantly he tells us that great learners help other people. If we can teach something then we fully know the material and it is also a kind and helpful thing to do for somebody. Elder Eyring has let me know that I need to be more humble and more serving if I want to succed here at BYU.

It's interesting to think that the world thinks that pride helps you be successful. In reality, pride makes you selfish and does not bring happiness.
